THE CENTER IN NO MAN'S SKY

THE CENTER.

In a recent Subcast, the center came up for debate. Is the journey we are going to undertake, the center of the first galaxy we start in, or is it the center of the universe? From its debut the main description for our start in No Man's Sky has been that we all start in the same galaxy as everyone else, in our own star system on our own planet. We all know that No Man's Sky is a Universe with more than one galaxy, that much is clear. And my question was asked during the Game Informer Podcast. We learned why the text on the website changed from Universe to Galaxy,

but when he was asked, If we can leave the Galaxy, and we have to go to the Center of that Galaxy how do you get to other Galaxies? Sean answered, Lets not spoil that for people.   But recently Sean Murray has been saying Center of the Universe rather than Center of the galaxy. He has also been saying recently that we all start on the outer edge of the Universe in recent interviews. This I believe is a mistake for many reasons. For one, to our current knowledge there is no edge to a Universe. If we knew that to be a fact, then we would all be living in a theory called a Multiverse. And as far as we know No Man's Sky is just one Universe. Who knows though they could be going after a Multiverse, But with that said, if we all start on the edge of the Universe, then we would not be starting in the same galaxy together as stated all along.

According to the Game Informer interview with Sean Murray the journey to the Center of the Galaxy will take players between 40-100 hours. Now I imagine that a Universe so large would take much longer to reach its center.

Why would it matter though? Well A gameplay element maybe? Each Galaxy could have more things to offer as in fighting some Malevolent force, or even play a role in the lore. And we know that reaching the Center will provide a reason to keep playing. Leading many people to believe that it will somehow open more Galaxies.

The bouncing back in forth in interviews is a bit confusing, but soon enough it will all be known to us, and discovering that will be part of the fun!

  1. Thanks for the information. I like the mystery surrounding the game but I can understand the frustration of waiting for the chance to answer all these questions for yourself.
